Businesses who own their fleet need to be made aware of a possible major headache with their paperwork due to a change in Insurance Law which will be implemented in 2011.

The regulations that allow for this change have been part of the Road Safety Act 2006, 2011 will see the Government start putting these new rules onto the statute book.  The new law will be known as Continuous Insurance Enforcement, this means that the registered keeper of the vehicle will be held liable if it isn’t listed on the Motor Insurance Database.

This differs from the driving without insurance offence, because it is the registered keeper of the vehicle who will be held to account. Therefore in respect to fleet vehicles it will be the company that owns the vehicles that could be fined or even have the vehicle seized.

If you own your vehicles contact us now for assistance as it is an administrative issue that could cost you even though you are insured.
